New report by MET about oil spill response models

Oil spill models are important tools for oil spill response authorities. But what do they do?

Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET), the lead partner in T3, Shared oil database and response model, has put together a report that describes the various oil spill modelling tools, which are used in the NPA region. These models are essential tools for OSR authorities, as they can predict the drifting of oil based on the current weather and ocean data and the parameters of the oil involved. The response measures can be more efficient, as the flow of the oil can be known in advance. MET has also created their own model, OpenDrift, which is presented in detail in the report.
